The front door of my '55 ford fairlane will not latch. What do I need to do to fix it?

The flower wheel jobbie has to catch against the metal tab or tang. The other end is like a starwheel, it must have its points still, the two must be in range. a place that restores and does bodywork can show you perhaps what it looks like from the view you would need. you can secure it and get in the other side for the drive to the estimate.

The doorgap must be in range. Traintracks are no picnic for that design.
