Why will my stereo work but can't get sound

Are you shure it works? You getting the output from it? Check the output. Not much could be wrong it's only u r radio. Or if the car is new and has an amplifier could be that. It's usually in the trunk or under passenger seat if it's a coupe. Or it can be under the glove box department, (might have to pull it off to get to it...
