I was driving my boyfriend's car and
suddenly it just shut off no sound and
it will not start how do we fix it .doesn't
make a sound when trying to start

No sound at all, so I'm assuming when you turn the key, nothing, if so possible the battery is dead and if it died then its possible the alternator is no good, the will die if its falls below around 12 volts. If it crank and sounds as its free wheeling then your timing belt may be bad...
