where does a fuel filter go on a 2001 Dodge Stratus

It contains a diaphragm, calibrated springs and a fuel return valve. Marie, on your Stratus, the fuel filter mounts to the frame above the rear of the fuel tank. The inlet and outlet tubes are permanently attached to the filter.

You will have to remove the rear seat, disconnect the pump electrical connector, remove the fuel cap(for pressure), drain fuel from tank if too full, remove the tank and disconnect the lines. Do it backwards to put the new filter. That said, don't go there if your filter is not an issue. It's a big job if you're not equipped and skilled. Since your filter is between the fuel cap and the tank, it should not cause any issue with your fuel delivery.
