Some fuel pumps run "hot" when they are failing. Then they cool off and work again. A fuel gauge will answer this question. keep it hooked up and watch the pressure when the engine dies. Also check the fuel pump ground on the frame near the fuel tank/pump. Be sure the ground bolt is tight.
