Do you mean a later model COMMAND system or an after-market unit. - Such as Pioneer, Kenwood, etc

I have had to replace the COMMAND unit on two SL's that I have owned. One was a warranty issue so I did not have to pay - however, the repair would have cost me about $3,000. The other SL I replaced the COMMAND unit because I wanted more features. Even with the fact that SL's have fiber optics and need additional adapters - it was still much cheaper to get an after-market unit. The after market units have more features and you do not have to pay MB $250 every time you want to update the Navigation. There are dash kits designed for every car. When the new unit is installed - it will exactly match your current dash and appear 100% original. You can look at Crutchfield's to get an idea of what is available.
