BEFORE YOU SPEND ANY MONEY: Check the vacuum supplied to the EATC unit. There's a vacuum hose from the intake (usually) to a "T" with a check valve and a vacuum reservoir. Usually, a register concern like yours is a vacuum problem and not a control head problem.

Electronic Automatic Temperature Control...not a greasy spoon off the highway...EAT-C~
My unit is bad even though it reads fine I unhookedvthe vacuum lines and ran a jumper from vacuum to dash to floor etc the worked meaning the whole dash wouldn't need removing and it was just control head plugged up buttons max ac norm, temp auto and off all work right because computer is hooked up I can live with switch plug in if need before spending 3-500$ on a new one plus I think it can be fixed by replacing the rings in the valves
where (exactly) under the hood is the check valve located 2005 mercury grand marquis ls
