I had a similar problem with my 5.3 Suburban. MAF was the problem. Some people have had luck cleaning them, but Ive always ended up buying a new one when they go out. And dont save money on a cheapie -- you get what you pay for on this sensor.

Sounds like it could be transmission slippage if you have the automatic transmission. I would suggest checking fluid levels. Also, your torque converter may be locking and unlocking repeatedly. Does it happen in a specific gear, a combination of gears, or all gears?

replace all rubber vaccuuum lines ...could be old and cracked. throttle body clean? it could have deposits fouling the sensors n stuff.

Does it behave oddly when you're driving below 30 mph? Also, does it have any difficulty accelerating or feel like it's down on power? Does the car stall when coming to a stop and does the car act differently between when it's in gear, out of gear, in park, etc.
