Audi A4 auto. Sudden problem.

97,000 miles. Automatic. Serviced.  Normally good
runner. Drove it earlier when suddenly it felt juddery
& struggled to excelorate then the engine light
came on. I made it home going no faster than 40 &
the shaking got worse plus a noise from under the
bonnet like rattling/clonking. Just started it up &
engine light had gone off but shaking the whole car
& noisy then light came back on. Help please!

It could be anything from a plugged catalytic converter to a fuel or ignition problem on this, your best bet is to get it into a shop for repair.

Thank you Rowefast. I've no cash to get it looked at so was hoping & preying it could be something straight forward if not I'll have to leave it on the drive & be car less but thank you for answering
