Question type: Car Customization
Im placing an older sb350 in my 82 camaro. Now, with having to replace nearly half the car and adding additional support. I'm still having an issue figuring the best manual transmission. Hwks offers a T5 swap but I'm worried that the 350 is too much of an engine for it. I've been told both yay and nay. There are few other options and they seen to be considerably more expensive. Any advise would be aprciated.

What kind of torque numbers are you expecting from your 350?
hmm... I believe the T5's start at 240 ft-ib rating and go up from there but I'm not certain(hopefully someone with more knowledge will say)... I know the rating is largely based on the first gear in 'em. I'd have to say though if you're not tuning that 350 at all you shouldn't have much problem as long as your not 'trying' to kill it..
the very best t5s were only rated at 300 ft lbs. 700r4 or t56.
