My 2002 Chevy Extreme has a severe rattle and shake to it went I'm driving. It gets worse as the faster it is going, or as the speed reduces. I think it is the drive shaft, what do you think?

Hi, Sounds to me like one or all of the U-joints are bad. If its a extened cab, maybe the carrier bearing. Hope this helps and let me know how ya make out

could be that you have a wheel that's unbalanced. Or a bad motor mount.

had a mechanic check it out. They said that the rear driveshaft is faulty. the rear driveshaft has 4 u-joints, 2 at the center support bushing and 2 at the boot. The ball between the 2 joints is worn. They say it happens on the extended cap s10's that have been lowered. I would need to replace the driveshaft and lift the truck to make it drivable again. Thinking it's time to sell it.

Yeah it's the U-Joint for sure, I've had to change mine twice in my 2000. It will probably be the second joint from the front of the chaft.

I had a 2001 Extreme Xtra cab with the same problem and kept replacing U-joints. By sheer luck I had the yoke out of the back of the transmission and noticed the end that went into the transmission was shiny and worn. I had a machine shop shave a 1/4 inch of the front end that goes into the transmission. Never replaced a U-joint again. Turns out, when you had weight or hit a big bump the yoke was too long and was binding up the drive line....... hope this helps. I have told a few other people about this and they did the same and it fixed there problem.

in yhe s10s the rear sectionof the driveline has two double caden cvs what hapensis in 99.999 percent of the time the rear cv goes bad what we can figure yhe exaust has alot to do with it we make a non cv style rear section that eliminates tjhe cvs and uses 2 ujoints vrs4 plus there greaseable its usaly more cost efectiv to get a new rear section rather half to chase the same problem over and over again extreme driveline has the in stock for 250.00 check our website for more info
