what kind of gear ratio did a 1978 305 monte carlo had, and what kind of gears does a ss haves? can anyone help me out?

Monties came with a 2.73 rear gear. The SS option gear was 3.23.

Depends on the year, my 72 came with stock 3.73(12 bolt).

My 79 factory 305 had the 273

83-88 SS Monte's came factory with 3.73 in a 10 bolt rear, non SS models had 2.43 in a 10 bolt. As for fitment, yes it should bolt in.
