Why am I having so many challenges with getting my transmission fixed on my 1986 Chevrolet Suburban?

Asked by Sherese Apr 01, 2012 at 12:28 AM about the 1986 Chevrolet Suburban

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've spent over $2500.00 within the past 3 months trying to re-pair, re-build, and replace my transmission. It started
off with just a leak in my transmission; then began sticking and not shifting in and out of gears properly. I put it in
the shop and the mechanic claimed it was fixed; the day after I got it back home it started doing the same thing. I
took it back to the shop because my warranty was good and I thought maybe it was just a bad apple in the bunch
that I had purchased since it was a rebuilt transmission anyway. Needless to say 3 months later and still nothing.

Did you get the tranny from the shop? If so tell him that he needs to make it right so that the issue doesn't get taken to next step. Be respectful, but firm.

i am sorry to hear about that. i have a really good tranny from a 90 suburban. the truck got wrecked but i took all the goodies b4 we scrapped the rest i still have the trans, transfer case, and wind shield. i have been trying to sell them on craigslist but had no luck. ive only been asking 150 each or 200 for both tranny and transfer case. i am even offering a written money back guarantee. that truck only had 74k on it. any way good luck getting ur sub back un the road.
