Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The brakes on my dads S10 go soft. We Have bled the brakes so amny times but they just go soft after a few miles of driving. I would like an opinion on this so we can figure out whats wrong. Any ideas? This picture attached is the actual picture of the truck. It is an 1988 Chevrolet S10 with a 350 V8 automatic. It is used for a little bit of street driving, but will be used for drag racing.

It sounds like you may have one or more of the following: 1. Air entering the system - this could be happening anywhere throughout the system - you may have to get the brake system pressure tested. 2. Leak causing loss of pressure - check for brake fluid (clear) on the floor near the engine or either of the four wheels. 3. A faulty brake line - have someone push on the brake pedal and watch each of the brake lines for a bulge.

could also be a vacuum leak on the power booster too, if there is one. I have to say it, could also be the way the brakes are being used, you could have blown the proportioning valve as well. Was there any brake conversions on the truck, like drum to disk, because if there is you need a new proportioning valve.
