...adjust the timing and the vacuum advance. set the butterfly and heat- riser up correctly for the temperature...examine the snorkel and stove kit to make sure that the flap opens after a few minutes of use----check the fuel pressure at the fuel pump and replace fuel filter~
It could be many things that stall the engine when put into drive. Check the vacuum hoses first. Check the engine idle speed too.

it's the temperature vs. carburetor enrichness to be set correctly~

How long after you put it in to drive does it die? rite away or after a couple of seconds?
Did u fix it? 5 vERY RARE ...if all the common things didnt work could even be torque conveter but that usually doesnt happen till newer lock up type converters.but if stator? Bearing bushing in converter hss lots of wear its possible n essy fix to swap out conv but ANYTIME going that deep in an auto trans problem ALWAYS change at least the trans front pump seal & pump oring & gasket if possible on any car when working that deep
