Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have had two new sets of axles for the 7.5 rearend. Both were suppose to be for this application. Everything checked out except for the machined area for the bearings to ride on. Only about half of the bearing rides on the macheined area.Old axle machined area from back of flange is 3.291 in.a nd the new ones were only 2.785 in. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response. I have thrown that idea around. It's driving me crazy that no one, even the axle manufacturers, can answer the question why the machined areas are so different.
mainley because that is a hard part to machine and get right.changing it out is the best thing.
I found a manufacturer that has axles that have the machined area (race) extended another 2 inches on the axles. Once I got the axles I double checked the position the bearing ride on the axle. I have approximately 1 in left. So far so good.
