Dodge ram 1500 6.2l v8

Asked by Rich - Ranae May 02, 2023 at 04:14 PM about the 1998 Dodge RAM 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving down the freeway when all of a sudden It
sounded like it popped out of gear and lost power. I pulled
over tried to put it back in gear but when I did it wouldn't
move. I had to have it towed a long ways home. I got it
back home I have no money so I did all the repairs myself
(already had everything for it )changed the clutch master
cylinder and slave sleeve and now it will only try to move
when I'm in 4th gear.    Anybody have any kind of idea
please help.

It sounds like you lost the counter shaft in the transmission 4th gear locks the input shaft directly to the output shaft.
