I have a 97 dodge ram 2500 pickup. The defrost is not working, what could be the issue?

First Check the fuse, Then I would start with the switch, get a DC meter and see if it is making. If that's good there is a relay after the switch again check with the meter to see if the relay in making and breaking. if all that checks out then the heating element is no good...
