scanners will not read a code

engine stumbles on acceraltion. and stalls. also when idling.
but scanners will not communacate when plugged in..

You have an ignition power / ground problem somewhere cutting power to your ECM. Almost impossible for me to be more specific about where to look. One more thing, check your VIN with Nissan to see if it is subject to the ECM relay recall. My 2005 was -- I wasn't having any problem but the reason for the recall had something to do with a faulty relay connection.
Might try changing your fuel filter also. Start with the cheap fixes.
No filter on this truck. Do the ecm relay recall but if it had failed it would not start. Could be lots of reasons why it's doing this but find out why the scanner isn't reading first then go from there.
I have the same exact issue with my Nissan frontier 2004. I've taken it to two mechanics and replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, blown fuse & had the air filter system cleaned, and still the same issue happening. Did you ever find out what the problem was?
