could be a animal or bird but most likely it is electrical issues so your car could light on fire? write off or lawsuit ? if it didnt do damage so far why care if your car is old

its this http://www.kotinet.com/defeat/9000/k-kirja/Tunvaihto.JPG same thing in 9000 and 900/9-3. The AAC cockpit temperature sensor. Try to lubricate the propeller or change the motor.

As henri said, its most likely the coupe air fan thats getting worn out, you dont have to do anything unless you want to dismantle you'r complete dashboard unit to replace it .. should still hold some years :)

It is your cabin temp sensor, as previously stated. However, it is quite easy to get out. Remove the ashtray/cubbie hole by simply pulling up and out from the bottom. Then reach your hand in there and simply push the sensor out of the console. Shine some light into the sensor so see then try to get some lube on the prop shaft and let it make it's way in (that's what she said).

This is my third SAAB 93. All 3 have had a the mechanical noise coming from the what looks like a jack plug type hole next to the ash tray. Apparently it's the cockpit temperature sensor fan. On all three cars a quick shot of WD 40 sorted out the noise. Job done.

Agreed. My 2001 Viggen started having that noise at 124,000 miles. A quick spray with WD-40 in through the center hole of the cabin temp sensor fixed the problem immediately without having to remove the unit from the dashboard. It's a 1 minute fix. WD-40 is not a lubricant per say and will evaporate in time but another spray should handle any recurrence nicely.
