200cdi doesn't want to change gear

Hello i have an mercedes c class 200 cdi. I was driving today earlier the engine was cold. So i drive into highway it was going great.. suddenly it doesn't want to change gear. I was standing in the highway driving 40 kmh per mile...The engine got fast warm. I was worried and stopped the car, i didn't know what to do. Any tips please?
