Lol. From some of your other posts I figure you were well into driving age at that time. So how much did you pay for gas back then?

was hoping someone would ask. Around 20 cents per gal. (we still used gal. back then). Our gal. is (was) 160 fl oz.;then there is exchange rate;then there is that fact that a U.S. fluid oz is actually about 4% bigger than a Cdn oz........ computing-commputing-computing = CHEAP.

I am sure I saw a billboard in Logan WV in 1965 that advertised you can buy a brand new Beetle for $1,965. I was 11 years old at that time. I thought it was funny because the year and price was 1965.

Yup brand new 1965 VW bug averaged around $1.00 per pound less than a pound of meat these days ( standard VW bug weighed in at 1600 pounds)

In Nurnberg, GermaNY I paid $1, 650 when I was stationed in Nurnberg. Had a friend that bought a 1965 Jaguar XKE for $7,800....remarkable

In Augusta, Georgia a gallon of gas was $.32 at a Shell station in 1974. Cheaper gas was around $.29 per gallon. In 1965 a Beetle Bug was around $1,389 fully loaded, which was a heater and a radio! Why do people keep posting false information about the past? I was there and walked the walk, now I can talk the talk!

My 1967 VW was 1600. Gas was about .25 a gallon. Those were the days.

My dad bought a new Red VW beetle in 1965 and paid 1500. I was 13. Took my driver's test in it when I turned 16. Upstate N.Y.

I bought one through the VW export program in 1965 . Picked it up at the factory showroom in Wolfsburg - $1305!
