head lights

Asked by peppermentpatty Aug 04, 2011 at 10:21 PM about the 1970 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We just bought one and the dim lights are, well, dim. The bright lights are fine. But, you can hardly see with the dim lights. Are they suppose to be this way?

It sounds like an electrical grounding issue. Check the two headlamps' grounding wires. They attach to the body with small screws. They are located under the bonnet on either side of the spare tire well. Make sure the metal hasn't corroded under the screws/wiring connector. This should help.

I just bought a 2018 beetle. Getting used to the buttons. Should the running lights be in? I switched them in and they were still in when I got out of the market!
