can you change to electronic ignition

is this an aircooled vw? if so then yes it's really easy. you can get aftermarket points replacement modules such as pertronix, compu-fire, accu-fire. they replace the points, are electronic, and once set you don't have to mess with them. make sure you READ and UNDERSTAND the instructions before messing with anything. if you wire them up backwards POOF! they are toast and no warrantee will cover them. some require certain coils so read and measure your coil to make sure it is compatible. personally points work just as good, require very little maintenance and are all around easier. when the electronic ignition breaks and you are on the side of the road, you will know what i mean
