Is static pressure in the ballpark? This can be measured with a manometer set or the high pressure transducer with a duty cycle capable digital multimeter. If the pressure is low, locate the leak first. Leaks will be oily deposits. Once located, collect parts: replacement seals, and receiver/drier. Then, take the car to an A/C shop and have them recover the refrigerant for you. Repair the system and apply vacuum: overkill (several hours), or use a manometer that can read in the micron range to determine the correct evacuation. Ideally, leave vacuum intact for a day or two and check for a pressure rise.

Pay $85-100 and have it evacuated, checked for leaks 30mm of vacuum ...and filled with the correct oil PAG,# and amount. Then filled to the correct weight ONLY proper way, of refrigerant 134A. That's what I suggest..

Thanks guys..I'lll take it to the dealership and have it done the right way. Took it to a couple of shops to charge the system, and both told me it's an electrical short that needs to be found. Dealer's cost is $109, a lot less than I expected. I'll follow up and let you guys know the results
