Chevy cobalt / copper in coolant reservoir

I just got a 2005 Chevy cobalt LT coupe. When i
checked the coolant reservoir there was this
copper looking metal on the bottom of the cap and
a little in the reservoir. What is this?  Should I flush
it out?
