My Subaru Outback is making a buzzing/humming noise. What could it be?

I am not sure if this is your issues ""It's the fuel evaporation leakage system doing a check. It turns on 5 to 10 hours after the engine is turned off. It's on page 9 of the '13 Outback manual""

it sounds like the evap canister, It does a vacuum pressure check. The car does this occasionally

Try to check the vacuum sensor "o" ring joint for leakage. due to ageing. I tried on mine, clean the throttle body at the same time. I added sealant around the mating "o" ring. Suddenly the system went quiet and buzzy from the steering hydraulic went. Hopw you might find this helpful..enjoy
