escape engine shut down at highway speed pull over let set 5min. start and runs no problem

what would cause this to hapen. have driven 500mi and has not sshut off sence

Did you get a CLE light on when this happen? It may have been something as simple as a temporary vapor lock. Hard to say.

I have had same problem with my 2008 Ford Escape. Shut down on crossover btwn northbound and southbound 4-lane highway. Wouldn’t start. Couldn’t shift. Brakes/gas peddles locked. Started for tow truck driver 50min later. Please help, if you can. What is a cle light? Is that for the gas cap?
