2008 PT keeps overheating

Asked by Gonepostal352 Dec 02, 2018 at 10:39 AM about the 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently change the hoses, fan and motor,
and finally thermostat. I put anti freeze and
started it up. The temp slowly came up,
cooling fan came on, water in the filler neck
started bubling. I shut the engine off, fluid
wrnt away in the filler neck. Is my new
thermostat not opening? What else can I do?

You have air in the system. Bleed air from system like this remove cap from overflow tank fill with antifreeze to full mark leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle you will notice level in tank start to rise this is normal once thermostat starts to open level in tank will drop add more antifreeze to full mark then put cap back on.
