Check your mechanical fuel pump. Did you install the pump rod inside the front cover that drives the pump. Also make sure you're getting gas to you're pump. It is gravity Fed.
Like Lonetech is saying, sounds like a fuel pump that needs to be replaced. It could be a mechanical fuel pump, but some vehicles came with an electric fuel pump. First try and change the fuel filter up in the carburetor fuel line as that could be plugged. Also there is a strainer sock on the end of the sending unit in the gas tank that could be a plugged up and needs to be replaced, this is no fun to change as the gas tank needs to be dropped down for this.
Also for as old as the vehicle is, the fuel lines should be looked at, especially at the sending unit. May need a new sending unit and fuel line repair as they could be rusted out bad.
I put a new fuel pump on already still no gas getting to the carburetor
Gotta see if fuel is getting to the fuel pump. If the gas tank has less than 5 gallons in it, the pump may not be able to pull the fuel up. At this point you do not want a lot of gas in the tank in case you need to drop the fuel tank. Have you changed the fuel filter? Check and see if gas is getting to the fuel pump. Put gas into the carb and start the engine to try and get gas to the fuel pump. Do this a few times. If it still does not keep running on it own, then the gas tank would need to come down to check the sending unit and to put a new fuel strainer on it if the sending unit is ok.
