99 sunfire is trying to overheat

I overheated my 99 sunfire, replaced the head,
head bolts and head gasket, thermostat, intake
gasket, exhaust gasket, VC gasket, and the radiator
is 1.5 years old. Didn't replace the water pump. The
car seemingly runs funds great on the highway for
about 30 minutes or 25 miles, and then all of a
sudden the temp creeped up a bit too high. I pull
over and shutit off so that it doesn't over heat
again. The over flow had spit some water out. Is
this another blown head gasket? Maybe a partially
failing water pump? Or could be incorrect
thermostat? What do u guys think, any questions
just ask I'll answer them as best I can

It possible that the pump is bad and not pumping. You may want to change the radiator cap and did you burp the system the correct way..and is your fan coming on at the correct temp.

Didn't burp the system, the fan comes on at the correct temp, haven't changed the cap. Replacing the Cap, is that a common practice and what is the purpose of it? Do radiator caps go bad? And does this even apply to me because mine doubles as the overflow cap, the radiator doesn't actually have a cap.
