hi i own a m reg bmw e36 316i compact but for some reson it limmets at 4000 rpm any ideas of what it could be ?????????

When is the last time you Removed and Cleaned the Throttle Body? Sounds like it's Clogged Up, Injectors Need Cleaning You're Replacing the Fuel Filter (Should be done every 8 to 14 Months). How are the RPMs when the car is in Neutral? You may have a fuel or plug wire or spark plug bad if there is an engine miss.or bad catalytic converter..

hi i have changed the plugs in the air flow meater and the throttle sensar the revs are quite low on tick over its got a few flat spots but it just lemmits at 4 k i will try the things you have said cheers
