Which car should I buy?
I'm looking to buy a Toyota Prius and was wondering which car would be considered to
be in better condition: a 2005 with 106k or a 2009 with 122k mileage? The 2005 is 1000
dollars cheaper with 1 year warranty on the hybrid battery and related parts. The 2009
still has 28k warranty on these parts, which probably equals two years considering how
much I would drive it. I don't know anything about the previous owners driving style and
if it were city or highway miles. Thanks!

Assuming both Prius' are hybrids, I might consider going with the 2009, since the cost of a replacement hybrid battery can be several thousand $$$ from what I hear. (This car is far from being my cup of tea, so not sure if ALL Prius' are hybrids, I don't think so....) Would advise against a hybrid and get a standard 4 cylinder model due to the ungodly cost of the battery. The 2009 has more warranty to cover the battery for a longer period of time, if it dies....major plus, IMO. Plus, it will run for another 122k miles with proper care.

The battery is a major concern. A used Prius is a better deal than a new one. That way you don't pay a whopping premium up front and take a loss at the back end.
The 2009 is a better deal. Each year there are more features added to the Prius. Depending on budget, I would get a used Prius 2 years old with 30k - 50k miles. It will get you to at least 150k without major problems or longer. I have talked to folks that have gotten over 200k without battery replacement.
The mileage difference between them is so small, but, the 2009 offers much more and is four years newer, which is definitely more desirable. I hope you chose that.
