Oh, man that could be many things. Sorry I'm not any help other than suggest you go get your OBD fault codes read. You don't say what year, but it will have either OBDII or the newer OBD. Don't pay to have them read, write them down and bring them back here. Or maybe somebody will come along that knows Jag's better than I do.
its a 04 2.5 awd sport...it does it random...i was reading another post and i read sumthng bout a throttle body?

It may just be simply in need if cleaning...try that before you spend the money they want.. good god they are anywhere from $200 and up for used ones on eBay, could not fond a new one, even at the popular, reputable parts places like RockAuto. They sell an aerosol spray~on cleaner, specifically made for cleaning MAF and TB's, it cleans but does not damage other components
