I have a 2006 Chevy impala while driving it the temperature runs normal but when sitting it gets overheated. What could the problem be.

Check the radiator fan,s,make sure there running,may be fuse of bad relay.

Check the fluid level also. If the fans are running and the fluid is as it should be, I'd start checking the temp sensor, or replace the thermostat if found defective. Make sure there is no debris blocking the radiator also. If you are running the A/C make sure one fan is running when it is on all the time. Both fans should run if the engine starts to heat up. It may be a sensor on the fans also, or one fan runs and the other dies not kick on.
