Before you check out the fuel pump, check out the Fuel Pump Relay, this module turns on the fuel pump when the key is turned on before the engine starts. Much less expensive and easier to replace than a fuel pump. Some auto parts stores will allow you to take the part and test it, then return it if it doesn't fix your problem.

If your fuel pump is quiet do this .Get out your tire tool and hit the bottom of your gas tank a few time .It might shock your pump enough to get it spinning for a little while longer.
