i have a 2002 chevy silverado. the ignition key i have turns the lights and radio on but will not start the truck. does the key for this vehicle have a chip installed?

You could check the starter switch in the column but, I would be suspicious of the starter. Check for voltage going to the solenoid when you turn the key to start. You may be able to access the starter solenoid lead for testing from the passenger side front wheel well. Jack up the truck to open access. I had that happen to me on my 2006 recently. You could tap on the solenoid with a long wooden shovel handle or something too like I did the verify.
