Exhaust not as loud as it is supposed to be

I have an 88 silverado with a thi 350 in it.
It has flowmaster super 10s with no cats and 2 1/4
inch pipe but it is really quiet for the setup. I had a
92 with the same set up and it blew eardrums
going down the road. What is the issue?

No that definitely wasn't the issue, already checked on the 88 as well.
So how do I go about changing the compression? Heads? Pistons?
I would put some glasspacks on it but I do t think you quite understand when I say this truck is quiet. It's deep but it's almost as of it has flowmaster 50 series with cats. I've had slot of old trucks with slot of loud exhaust setups. Never ran into anything like this
