Is there a fuel filter and where is it located on a 98' dodge ram 1500 pickup with a 5.9L engine?

its more of a filter sock, its connected to the fuel filter, it catches big stuff, and doesnt typically clog. its not really a serviceable piece

can you put a in line filter in and will it make a difference

The fuel pressure regulator/filter (same) is on top of the fuel tank not inside the tank, at least not on 99 dodge 1500 5.9.

There is no fuel filter. The sock on the fuel pump inside the tank is your filter. At least on my 99 1500 5.9
