i have a 99 dodge ram  and have found a cpu for a 95 dodge ram same motor
and transmission will it work

what is OBD2 mean ? and what cpu do i need 99 dodge ram 15oo 1/2 ton truck

You need to provide the VIN to the seller of replacement ECU's in order to get one that will actually work. OBD2 is On Board Diagnostics 2 which superseded OBD1. These are totally incompatible.

so if i get a cpu that is off a 96 and is OBD2 then it will work

If you are shopping junk yards get one that is for the same year and the same engine that you have now. If you do this there is a Chance it will work but no guarantees.
