Engine swap

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a question I need answered rather quickly. My son put a hole in the oil pan, and never told. Well he continued to drive it and now the motor is shot. The truck is a 2000 Dodge 2500 4X4 with a 5.9L gas, I have a "donor" truck that was damaged in a tornado. It is a 1995 Dodge 1500 2WD Laramie, it has the 5.9L gas engine in it. Could I possibly swap the 1995 5.9L engine into the 2000 Dodge without any problems?  Since the donor truck had such low miles  (65,000) There are also a couple other options ive been looking at for this 1995 engine. What could I put this in??

yes and no, block and the heads should be the same but the flywheel is a bit different as well as most of the wiring, best way to tell is to get the numbers off both blocks and cross check them. And as for the engine if you have a dakota sitting around drop it in, they where pretty quick back then with a 318 let alone a 360.
