Question type: General

I am thinking of getting a 2nd generation Prius. I only drive about 1,500 miles
per year. I have heard that the low mileage will reduce the life of the battery. Is
that true? I am not concerned about mpg or cold weather.

Ask other owners on a Prius forum. If you drive that little you might want an electric car instead of a hybrid.

he following is from "The Car Care Nut" a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician on youtube. As long as the car is driven weekly you should be ok. If it sits for months at a time I would consider a gasoline only car for longevity.

Other people have noted that the life of the 12 volt battery will be reduced and may require replacement more often. The Prius 12 volt battery is a special battery and typically costs over $210.
