S13 or S14 Blacktop? Which is better? And whats a SR20DET GTiR?

S14 Blacktop has a bit more power. The GTiR is a FEW hatchback...fast little snot but you don't want that for your s-chassis swap, cause it comes with a FWD trans etc.
The Nissan Sunny Pulsar GTiR has the same engine as the Nissan 200sx s14/a in a car half the size. Its simply a monster. GET IT!
The Sunny Pulsar GTI-R is actually diffrent it is a mounted transverally instead of front to back for the RWD platform in addition to the GTI-R motor using a top mount intercooler. It is a little bit diffrent than a standard DET block which is the common swap for 240's
I would go for the S14 if it was between the S13 and S14, but the GTI-R, are you talking about the Pulsar/Sunny, cos if you are, you shoudl totally get that instead
There are three kind of valve cover colors for the SR20DET.However, it doesn't necessarily dictates the power it produces but more the year the engine was produced.The three colors are red, black and silver. Also, the engine code tells us a lot.SR is the basic engine block code.20 is the displacement, 2.0L.D is for DOHC.E is for electronic fuel injection and T for turbo.There are SR18DE, SR16VE, SR20VET etc...etc... So there is a lot of choice for an engine swap as pretty much the entire SR range found its way into Silvias over the years. I'll try to make it simple. The 1989 to 1993 S13 Silvia had the Red Top SR20DET.From 1994 onwards all Silvias had Black Top SR20DET.The Silver Top SR20DET was never found in Silvias. Then in the Red Top range there is two engines.The first one was found in S13 Silvias and had a Garrett T25G boosting at 7 psi and was good for 202BHp and 203lb-ft.The second is almost exactly the same engine except it had a Garrett T28 turbo blowing 10.6 psi into individual throttle bodies.This one was good for 227BHp and 210lb-ft.Note that this is a JDM-only engine.In other markets the T28 had bushing type bearings instead of ball bearings and lower output due to more stringent emissions regulations.Still it was good for 220BHp and 196 lb-ft.This was the engine found in the Pulsar GTi-R.It's AWD and like already said it won't fit without heavy modifications.Moreover, you will have difficulty finding somone able to tune up individual throttle bodies.And in any way a simple boost controller would yield the same if not more power. Then there is the Black Top range.This is way more complicated so I'll try to go year by year.From 1994 until 1998 in S13 Silvias you could find the Black Top SR20DET.This is the same as a Red Top SR20DET from the same period.From 1994 until 1999 in the S14 you had a Black Top SR20DET but with a Garrett T28 on ball bearings pushing 11 psi good for 217BHp and 203lb-ft.It also had VCT, which is a hydraulic variable intake cam.The 1999 to 2002 S15 also has a Black Top SR20DET but with a different computer, T28 turbo and VCT this one is good for 245BHp and 202 lb-ft. The Silver Top SR20DET was never found in the Silvia range.This was reserved for the Avenir station wagon range and then only available for the AWD version and like the Pulsar GTi-R it won't fit the S13/14/15 chassis without heavy modifications. In conclusion, without any engine mount modifications, the Red Top will fit in the S13 240SX, that is the USDM version with the KA24DE from 1989 to 1994.While all the Black Top will only fit the USDM S14 240SX from 1995 to 1998. Then again, there are a couple of companies that can supply you some custom mounts to put any SR20DET into any 240SX.
I just wanted to check but I think the GTI-R motor was the only one using factory ITB's
