when buying a used car what does clean retail mean?

I'm going to be buying a 2005 GMC Envoy.  The clean retail price seems high to me,  
What does "clean retail price" vs "clean trade in" mean?

It,s the dealer,s way of saying they haven,t tacked on addttional money to the actual retail price,but you should price compare it,with other,s of the same model,before buying,if you think price is high.

Clean retail is what a dealer should ask IF the vehicle is in great condition inside and out. Everything works and doesn't need anything. Clean trade-in is what a dealer should give you when you trade your vehicle in on one of there's. Your vehicle needs to be in great condition inside and out to get that price though.
