Any one buy a 2016 forester or Crosstrek? Any proablms?

Hear anything about the Crosstrek?

I assume they built a bunce of engines & would be putting then in 16's huh?

The oil consumption issues have been around for a number or years. As far as I know the 16 engines are the same as the 15's.

Heard anything about the 2.0 in Crosstrek? Not the 2.0 turbo engine? This is a bummer! It was the car in my price range. :-( what Awd or 4x4 Are good under 30,000? Thank you for answer

Supposedly the turbo engines have fewer problems with oil consumption. They use heavier oil and according to a dealer, the higher combustion pressure helps the rings seal better. I can't say if this is true or not.

I would think the 2.0 in the Crosstrek is the same as impresza? Not a turbo? I need a Good Safe car, I've been reading about Subaru,Toyota etc. I'm out of my league with the new tranny's & what not. I just went a safe Reliable car for me and my kids

Subaru's have a good rep for safety and are selling well in spite of the oil consumption issue. I personally like the CVT and have driven one several times and have been impressed. I can't say much about the CVT reliability but it does seem to be the best CVT out there today. An extended warranty might be a good idea if you go ahead an buy a Subaru.

I wouldn't steer away from Subaru for your needs. I would NOT pay the premium for the Crosstrek over the Impreza Premium Hatch as the latter handles better and doesn't feel power-starved with the CVT as much. It's a great $23k choice. But for big kids and adult rear passenger space the only NEW rec I have is for the Legacy Prem Sedan for +2k more. VASTLY bigger, quieter, smoother, more powerful, and an astonishing 31- 32mpg hwy. (DISCLAIMER: I still trade in 2010+ Leg Sedans.) Foresters are much too SUV-like for me, with, like the 2010+ OB, a too high center of gravity and wayward body control ruining their handling. If you ABSOLUTELY need 5 doors get the Imp Prem or if you want to go elsewhere the only ultrareliable choice with great handling is the new (2014 with 2.5i) Mazda CX-5. While still a sport "cute", and fairly pricey in middle-level trim, it'd be an interesting comparison with the CrossTrek. But again, if ground clearance isn't a huge issue the value play with great handling is the Imp Prem. All manner of Toyotas, Hondas, Nissans et al are front-wheel-drive sourced 4 wd, and just don;t have that great handling the proper Subarus do. So I'd compare the Imp Prem and Crosstrek with the CX-5, and pick your favorite. THEN compare it with a Legacy Prem and be shocked at how much "more" car you can get for short money. Until the statistical dust settles I still recommend buying the newest Subies but switching to 5w30 winter and 10w40 summer oil to quench light consumption. Note that Subie showed a new "stretched" Impreza hatch at a show in Japan. This reminds me of the smaller Legacy Wagons of the early 90s, and may be the perfect 5 door sport hatch if given the torquier 2.5i. Lastly, do NOT buy a Subaru turbo is you expect 10yr longevity. Plus their city drivability is compromised by lag until high revs are achieved...the opposite of what you want.
