I have a 1989 IROC_Z. It is very hard to start. I recently changed all 8 injectors. Any reccommendations of thing to try?

I found that doubling the cooling sensor resistance value with an external resistor on the coolant temp sensor solves the problem. I already changed the sensor , but it did not solve the problem.

check the timing belt, might have slipped a tooth. check carb/ jet, i donk know what setup you have so also check distributor/ dizzy coil, distributor off timing messes up spark plug firing. starter solenoid... i cant think of anything else

Hi Trent ,gulp, the fuel pump. Thanks for the input. The fuel pressure is about 22 psi which is much less than the manual # of 40 psi. I applied continuous power to the fuel pump and pinched off the return line. The fuel pressure remained the same. I am down to the fuel filter or ,gulp, the fuel pump. I think increasing the cooling sensor resistance fooled the computer to open the jets sufficently start the engine
Keep in mind that the 5.7 TPI has a 9th injector (the cold start injector).

The manual does not show a cold start injector for the 8 cylinder engine.
check the sensor connection terminals for corrosion and or loose fit to sensor
You are right.. I just looked it up in the manual.. I forgot that the cold start injector was phased out in '89. Early '89 models had it, later '89 models didn't.
