Camry shift solenoid issues/“R” but No “D”

I’ve come up with the conclusion that it could
be throttle body or transmission shift solenoid.
At first started to downshift hard on freeway
after a decent drive. Then disconnected the
battery and was fine till I took that trip again n
same thing happened except this time it
wouldn’t keep a idle at start up so cleaned the
throttle body n MAF. After the cleaning
process I had reverse which engages hard n
drive doesn’t do anything unless I accelerate.
When scanned car have me a number of
codes but the only one related to my
symptoms is P1714.  Any help is helpful.

Knowing what those other codes are would help the diagnosis. Sounds like you might have a wiring issue if resetting the computer temporarily fixes the issue. We use a Bi-directional Scan tool to check the Solinoid Circuit. This tool can turn the Sol. On and Off. For diagnosis. This tool can also monitor the Sol. To see when it turns on...off. without special equipment...I would replace the Solinoid.
