A failed or disconnected MAF, Mass Air Flow sensor will not prevent the car from starting, Or running. The MAF measures the air flow going in to throttle body and helps determine air/fuel trim. But without it the engine will still run, the ECU will go to a factory default and use other input from 02 sensors, the A/F trim sensor in the exhaust stream, the MAP gauge.
