changing the factory radio to an aftermaket radio

Asked by Cutieonduty Mar 30, 2010 at 12:18 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Supercharged FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I need to change my factory radio (the cd player stoped working) to an aftermarket radio. Having a hard time finding the wiring kits that would allow me to keep all the warning indicators and chimes. Has anyone had to do this and if so what did you use??

The CD player in my '02 also stopped working. I know a guy who is GM certified and works at a local dealership. You can get the factory radio, through a dealer, I was told for about $400 give or take, then there is no need to hunt for the wiring. This is what I am going to do this summer, so I can keep my car, at the least, stock. Besides a few add-ons I plan to do with it, but plan the keep the car with at least what it came with. Hope this helps, if not sorry.

Thank you for replying. I really didn't want to spend $500 on an other factory radio. I have all ready bought the aftermarket radio, but if I would have known how hard it is to find the wiring kit, I would have said hell with it (LOL).
