00 1500 battery drain

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

00 1500 Silverado Lt. Battery draining
overnight, found big 40 amp ign. fuse
at top of fuse panel under hood made
test light go out when pulled.
So what's next ? Can't find my service
manual. Don't know what's on that ign.
Fuse to check or disconnect next .

I would start going through the smaller fuse panels pulling one at a time until you find the circuit the drain is on. From there you can narrow it down more. Do you have an after market alarm/remote start? May want to start there.

I think you need to do a parasitic drain test , I used to test shorts from continuity but apparently not the right way

I had same problem. Did all tests I could think of and several Mechanics could not find it, so I went back to the basics replaced my ground and I found that if I put a 3rd ground to my frame all my electrical problems went away . Even my odometer lights go off . So try it .
